Linda Sikhakhane @The Orbit
13 January 2018 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm| R130
After launching his debut album – Two Sides, One Mirror – at The Orbit in June 2017, tenor saxophonist Linda Sikhakhane has returned home from New York, where he is currently based, to present his songbook once again.
Two Sides, One Mirror is a reflection of Sikhakhane’s understanding of people and how music plays a big role in self-expression, restoration, decolonisation, culture preservation, and storytelling.
After the album launch, Sikhakhane relocated to New York City where he took up his Samro Overseas Scholarship Award to further his studies at The New School University. There, he is under the under the tutelage of Billy Harper, David Schnitter, and Reggie Workma.
Before he returns to New York City, Sikhakahne and his formidable band will be at The Orbit for two nights only to dish up more from this first project as well as present some new offerings.
